Dermaplaning
-
Dermaplaning is an exfoliation procedure that gently removes the epidermis layer of the skin to eliminate dead skin cells and vellus hair, known as peach fuzz.
-
Using a sterile surgical scalpel to gently shave the top layer of skin, dead skin cells, dirt and hair are removed, revealing skin that is smooth and clear.
Treatment includes a cleansing and sterilising preparation of the skin, full face dermaplaning, followed by a second cleanse, serum and SPF application.
-
The greatest benefit of dermaplaning is the temporary removal of unwanted facial hairs resulting in a perfectly polished base for makeup and an overall smooth appearance. Dermaplaning also promotes increased product absorption due to improved skin texture and hydration, thus maximising the effectiveness of these products. Immediately after treatment, skin will be smooth, clear and naturally radiant.

Unfortunately, not all treatments are suitable for all. Please check if any of the following contraindications apply:
Pregnant or breastfeeding
Sunburn or irritated skin
Active acne
Infectious disease, such as Herpes Simplex (cold sores)
Hormonal therapy (increased side effects)
Excessive thick or dark facial hair
Extensive sun exposure 3 days prior or post treatment
Facial waxing within the past 7 days
Any other facial treatment within the past 2 weeks
Topical retinal products within the past 2 weeks
Accutane within the past 6-12 months
-
After a dermaplaning treatment, the following side effects may be experienced:
Skin sensitivity
Slight irritation and dryness
Mild redness
Abrasions from the surgical blade
Prickly or coarse regrowth
Ingrown hairs
-
Results are temporary and typically last 3-4 weeks, the length of time if takes for the skin to complete a rejuvenation cycle.
-
Once removed, hairs will not grow back thicker or darker. In some cases, clients report hair is in fact reduced as a result of dermaplaning. You may, however, notice the feeling of stubble as it starts to return. This is due to the way it was cut during the process, but rest assured the hair itself will remain the same colour and texture as before. Some clients even report less hair growth after treatment.
-
In order to maintain skin health after dermaplaning, please follow the after care advice.
